The Healthy Weigh Now is a medically supervised, low carbohydrate, gluten-free diet plan that helps clients lose 2-5 pounds of fat per week. When we eat carbohydrates (such as bread, rice, pasta, and potatoes), our bodies convert them into glucose (sugar). We absorb the glucose into the bloodstream. This, in turn, causes the pancreas to release insulin to regulate our blood sugar level. However, insulin also causes our bodies to store calories in the form of fat. The more carbohydrates we eat, the more fat we store.

Our low carbohydrate diet is supervised by Family Medicine Physicians. The program allows clients to enter a mild ketotic state, in which fat is burned quickly while maintaining muscle mass. Clients experience improvement in health, including lower blood pressure, lower cholesterol, better-controlled diabetes, and at times even complete resolution of these conditions. Through weekly personal coaching sessions, body composition analysis, and our protein-based products, clients can expect to lose weight without feeling hungry or needing to exercise.

When clients reach their goal weight, our coaches guide them through a specific transition period into a dedicated maintenance phase. This helps clients maintain their healthy weight.

The Healthy Weigh Now Frequently Asked Questions

1. How Much Does This Program Cost?

The program costs $385 to sign up. This covers your life time coaching sessions and also includes a welcome bag. The welcome bag includes 30 different protein products selected from our line which provides your first week of food with a few extras.

The only other costs are your weekly supply of protein products purchased from us at your meetings. These cost an average of $80-90 per week which reflects having at least 3 products per day while participating in the weight loss phase of the program.

2. How Long Will I Be In The Weight Loss Phase (Phase 1)?

This varies from person to person. Women typically lose approximately 3-3.5 pounds per week on average. Men typically lose 4-4.5 pounds of fat per week on average. Many factors affect this rate of weight loss such as individual metabolism, stress, sleep habits, and how closely a person sticks to the eating schedule and food plan. There is no way to accurately predict how long this process will take.

4. What Is Involved In The Coaching Visits?

Each week you meet with one of our coaches. At these visits, you discuss how your week went, how you feel, any difficulties/successes you had, and any other pertinent information. You get weighed in on our special scale and compare and discuss the numbers for the week with your coach. Using the information you provide about your week and the numbers from the scale you and the coach come up with a plan for the following week. You will also take have your blood pressure taken unless you decline. You will pick up your food for the week as well.

5. How Much Food Is Required For Participation In The Program?

You are required to use 3 of our products per day at a minimum while in the weight loss phase of the program (phase 1). They are designed to be low carb/low fat and help you be successful. It is fine to use more than 3 products per day based on a plan discussed with the coach and it is also fine to buy food in bulk ahead of time rather than purchase it week to week. Some people like to have more variety on hand.

6. What Is Different About Your Scale Compared To Other Scales?

We use a special scale that is capable of measuring and distinguishing between multiple different components of your body through electrical conduction and resistance. It measures the weight of the fat mass in your body as well as the water weight. Using this information, we can also keep track of your protein mass. Keeping a stable balance in the water and protein in your body while focusing on burning the fat is a key goal of the program and the coaching visits.

7. What Are Your Hours For Scheduling Appointments?

We schedule appointments between 7:40 AM and 7:20 PM Monday through Friday.

8. Will you Have Weekend Hours?

Yes, eventually we will have weekend hours for appointments. They will coincide with the operating hours of the walk-in clinic which are 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM on Saturday and 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM on Sunday.

9. How Many Carbohydrates Should I Have Per Day?

The goal is to keep net carbohydrates to 50 or fewer per day. Net carbohydrates are calculated by taking the total carbohydrates and subtracting fiber (both soluble and insoluble).

10. How Many Grams Of Fat Can I Have Per Day?

There is no specific number for this. Some of the protein products contain fat and there will be some fat in the protein that you purchase and cook on your own. The goal is to keep this as low as possible since every bit of fat taken in makes losing weight that much more difficult.

11. How Do I Set My Weight Loss Goal?

It is common to focus on the total weight as a number as a target for weight loss especially since this is the only information most scales provide, but this does not take all factors into consideration. There are only three ways in which a person can lose weight. You can lose water weight, muscle (protein), or fat. Since we do not want to lose muscle and only so much water weight can be lost, the target for weight loss is really primarily fat loss. Our program targets this aspect of weight specifically while striving to maintain muscle mass. While some water weight loss is natural and expected, we also monitor overall hydration during the program. The body has a healthy range of fat mass as some is natural and necessary and we aim for a spot inside this range which is based on age, sex, and height. Taking all of this into consideration with guidance from the coach, weight loss goals are ultimately set by the client.

12. How Is This Program Different From Other Programs?

Our program differs from other programs in several key ways. We are very focused on coaching and the weekly meetings which adds support, structure, and accountability to the weight loss effort. Our protein products are also designed to be integrated into a diet that each person creates for themselves as opposed to being boxes of food that comprise the entire diet a person will eat. Our program is physician supervised and so there is a level of medical involvement and oversight that is not found in most other diet programs.

13. What Happens If I Have To Miss A Weekly Visit?

If we know ahead of time that you will be away or will be unable to come in for a week we can plan ahead at the previous visit so that you have enough food to cover until the next appointment. If something comes up during the week that was unplanned we can still make sure you can pick up the food you need.
